New homepage of the Devon and Cornwall Police website.
The coding follows the principle of mobile first and uses 4 screen width break points, what this means is that if you view the site with your mobile or tablet the layout of the site will change for ease of viewing.
I have left the Search top left for ease of those using screen magnifiers.
The web team meeting this morning discussed the need:
- for all social media links to be within the top strip, which especially when viewed using a mobile pushes the main content of the page down the screen.
- The icons to the left of the logo are not descriptive enough.
- Where do you think the icons will take you?
- Three people shapes
- Warning triangle
- Question mark
- Pencil
- News and appeal stories should not be displayed on the homepage
- News and appeals should be displayed but given more room
- We do / don't need a homepage presence for Court and Convicted.
- We do / don't need a contact form in the footer
If you use assistive technology to view websites, how does this page perform? (Most links will not go anywhere.)
I will be working on another design based on this one and will post a link to it by the end of next week all being well.
As always thank you for taking the time to visit our blog.
